Understanding GST calculations
Add GST is used when you know the amount before tax. The selected GST percentage is calculated on the taxable value and added to produce the final total.
Remove GST is used when the entered amount already includes GST. The calculator divides the inclusive total by the GST factor to recover the underlying taxable value.
The calculator also shows an equal CGST/SGST split as a convenient reference for standard intra-state calculations. For inter-state transactions, exempt supplies, reverse charge, composition arrangements, or other special cases, confirm the applicable treatment separately.
Frequently asked questions
Add GST starts with the taxable value before GST and calculates the GST amount plus the final tax-inclusive total.
Remove GST starts with a price that already includes GST and works backward to identify the taxable value and embedded GST amount.
For a standard intra-state split, GST is commonly divided equally between CGST and SGST. Actual tax treatment can differ depending on the transaction, location, exemptions, or other rules.
Choose the rate that applies to your specific goods or services. JaiVibe provides common rate buttons for quick calculation, but the applicable rate should be confirmed from the relevant tax treatment for your transaction.
You can use it for quick pricing and invoice checks, but final invoicing should follow the GST rules and documentation requirements that apply to your business and transaction.
